This article explains how to enable Popup Notification messages when Windows Millennium Edition (Me) System File Protection (SFP) performs an action.

To enable SFP popup messages, navigate to the following key in the registry and change the "ShowPopups" DWORD value from "0" to "1":

HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ SystemFileProtection

NOTE: The above registry key is one path, it has been wrapped for readability.

The change will take effect when you restart your computer. To disable the popup messages, set the DWORD value back to 0 and restart your computer.

The default setting for Windows Me SFP Popup Notification is 0 (disabled).

SFP Popup Notification will display messages for:
  • Restoring a protected file.
  • Removing a security catalog.
  • Adding a security catalog.
