SYMPTOMS

When you create a document in Microsoft Works Word Processor, and you format a border around some text and an object, the object moves outside of the border, or the border lines become disconnected.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you format the object with text wrapping as in the following examples:

Example 1

  1. Start Works Word Processor.
  2. Type the following text:

This is a line of text.
This is another line of text.

  3. Select the text.
  4. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading.
  5. Click the Outline border, and then click OK.
  6. Click inside the border.
  7. On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
  8. Click the Text category.
  9. Click BD05090_.wmf (ABCD), and then click Insert.
  10. Click the picture object.
  11. On the Format menu, click Object.
  12. On the Wrapping tab, click Tight, and then click OK.

Note that the object is outside of the border, and that the border lines are not connected.

Example 2

  12. On the Wrapping tab, click Square, and then click OK.

Note that the border lines are connected, but the picture object is outside of the border.

RESOLUTION

To prevent this problem from occurring, do not format an object with text wrapping if you want to place a border around it.
