Works 6: You Cannot Edit a New Painting in Works Word Processor (265989)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 6

This article was previously published under Q265989

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new paint object in a Microsoft Works Word Processor document, and you then attempt to edit the paint object in Microsoft Paint, the paint object may appear in an edit box too small to allow you to edit it.

If you attempt to increase the size of the edit box, you unexpectedly return to Works Word Processor or the edit box reverts to its original size.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you use the Zoom feature to set the Works Word Processor document to Whole Page or larger before you attempt to edit the paint object.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
  1. On the standard toolbar, click the arrow next to Zoom.
  2. Click 100%.
  3. Double-click the paint object. Microsoft Paint starts and the paint object appears in an edit box large enough for you to edit it.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 6.
