Works 6: Temperature Conversion Results Are Incorrect (265981)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 6
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2001

This article was previously published under Q265981

SYMPTOMS

When you type a value in one of the boxes on the left side of the Microsoft Works Spreadsheet Temperature Conversion template (using the Measurement Conversion task), the Equivalents data results may be incorrect.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the character that you type into the left side of the Temperature Conversion template is not an integer and is therefore invalid. For example, if you type an "O" (capitalized letter "o") instead of a "0" (zero), or an "!" instead of a "1," you experience the behavior described in the "Symptoms" section.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, replace the invalid character or characters on the left side of the Temperature Conversion template with valid characters (integers).

MORE INFORMATION

Invalid characters cause a "0.0" conversion result to appear in the Equivalents boxes.

For example, if you type "4O" (4 and a capitalized letter "o") in the Fahrenheit box on the left side of the Temperature Conversion template, the value "0.0" appears in the Fahrenheit box under Equivalents.
