Works 6: Some Works 6 Programs Cannot Start As Minimized Programs (265972)

SYMPTOMS

The following Microsoft Works programs cannot be started as minimized programs:
  • Microsoft Works Task Launcher
  • Microsoft Works Spreadsheet
  • Microsoft Works Database
  • Microsoft Works Calendar

RESOLUTION

All of the Works programs can be minimized after you start them. To minimize any Works program, click Minimize in the upper right corner of the program window.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

A program is said to be minimized when it is running but does not appear on the Windows desktop. The program appears as a button on the Windows taskbar and can be opened to a normal window when you double-click the button.

To change the size of a Microsoft Windows program when it opens, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the program icon on the Windows desktop or the Start menu.
  2. On the shortcut menu, click Properties.
  3. On the Shortcut tab, in the Run window, do one of the following:

    • Click Normal window if you want the program to start in a Restored window size.
    • Click Minimized if you want the program to start and run, but not appear on the Windows desktop.
    • Click Maximized if you want the program to fill the screen when it starts.
    Click OK.
