Works 6: Calendar Category Names Are Incorrect (265924)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 6
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2001

This article was previously published under Q265924

SYMPTOMS

When you use a Microsoft Works 6 Calendar database with Microsoft Works 2000 Calendar, the category names may change, but the event occurrence is correct.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you replace the Works 2000 Mswkscal.wcd file with a Works 6 Mswkscal.wcd file, or if you replace Works 6 on your computer with Works 2000 and elect to save the Calendar database.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, rename the categories after they are incorporated into Works 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

The Works 2000 Calendar category ID does not map the same way to its category names that Works 6 Calendar category ID maps to its category names.

When a Works 6 Calendar database is opened in Works 2000, all of the categories after the Archive category have incorrect names because Works 6 Calendar contains an Archive category, which Works 2000 Calendar does not contain.

For example, assume that the following are Works 6 categories:

0	Anniversary
1	Archive
2	Birthday
3	Holiday

Because there is no default Archive category in Works 2000, the corresponding category list is as follows:

0	Anniversary
1	Birthday
2	Holiday
