SYMPTOMS

When you start Movie Maker and then record or play back a .wav file, the VU meter may not register the sound level.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when you are using a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! sound card with the input line set to Wave or "What U Hear".

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition with Creative Labs Sound Blaster Live! sound card.

MORE INFORMATION

When you turn up the volume to the highest level, the VU meter may begin to register sound.

When you use Creative Labs Keyboard software as the wave creation device and you play only one note, the volume may be too low to register on the VU meter. If you play a chord of several notes, then the VU meter may register the sound.

NOTE: The microphone line on the Sound Blaster Live! may work correctly.
