Error Message Occurs When Sending Movie Maker Project File (265545)

SYMPTOMS

When you are attempting to send a Microsoft Windows Movie Maker Project (.Mswmm) file, when you click the Send Movie To menu, and then click E-mail, you may receive the following error message:
There was a problem with your e-mail program. Please try again.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you do not have a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) compliant e-mail application installed on your computer.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install an e-mail application which supports the use of MAPI.

To work around this issue, you can do one of the following methods:

  • Attach the .Mswmm file using another e-mail application. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Send Movie To, and then click E-mail.
    2. Click OK.
    3. Type a file name, and then click OK.
    4. Click As an attachment in another e-mail program, click OK, and then follow the instructions on the screen.
  • Send the .Mswmm file using the Hotmail Web-based e-mail application. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Send Movie To, and then click E-mail.
    2. Click OK.
    3. Type a file name, and then click OK.
    4. Click Hotmail, click OK, and then follow the instructions on the screen.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
