In Microsoft Word 2000, when you open a document that is in Word 95 format, Word 97 format, or Rich Text Format (RTF) and that contains a table, the column width of the cells may increase. The table may even extend into or beyond the right margin.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when both of the following conditions are true:
- The table contains split cells or merged cells, or both.
-and- - The table contains cells whose widths appear the same in the user interface but that actually differ by a few twips.
