PRB: Client Executable File Is Not Created When You Export an MTS Package (265493)

When you export a Microsoft Transaction Server (MTS) package from MTS Explorer, normally an executable file is created in the client's folder where you export the package. However, under specific circumstances, the executable file is not created.
CAUSE
This problem occurs if the Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack or subsequent service packs are not installed correctly.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- In Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs.
- Uninstall Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack.
- Download CleanNTOP.exe, and then run CleanNTOP.bat.

- Reinstall Windows NT 4.0 Option Pack.
- Download the latest Windows NT 4.0 service pack from the following Microsoft Web site:
When you export the package, the executable file is created in the client's folder.
WORK AROUND
If removing and reinstalling NTOP is not an option, you can use the following workaround:
- Set up another Windows NT version 4.0 computer with the exact same MTS Packages.
- In the MTS Microsoft Management Console, right-click My Computer.
- For the Remote Server Name, type in the value of the problem computer (Production computer).
- Generate the Client.exe from this new Windows NT version 4.0 computer.
- Install this new client.exe on client copmuter.
STATUSThis behavior is by design.
