OFF2000: Files and Registry Keys Reappear in Custom Installation Wizard (265432)

SYMPTOMS

If you remove a file or a registry entry in a transform that you created by using the Custom Installation Wizard, the file or registry entry may reappear in the Custom Installation Wizard.

CAUSE

You may experience this problem if the following are true:
  • You selected the file (in the Add Files to the Installation dialog box) or the registry key (in the Add Registry Entries dialog box), and then you clicked Remove.
  • You clicked Next.
  • You clicked Back to revisit the same dialog box from which you had removed either the file or the registry key.

WORKAROUND

To prevent this problem, do not revisit either the Add Files to the Installation dialog box or the Add Registry Entries dialog box, after you remove a file or a registry key, respectively.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
