RESOLUTION
A
supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to
correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to
computers that are experiencing this specific problem.
To resolve this
problem, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a
complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and
information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
NOTE: In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for
support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines
that a specific update will resolve your problem. The usual support costs will
apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for the
specific update in question.
The English version of
this fix should have the following file attributes or later:
Date Time Version Size File name
----------------------------------------------------
06/28/2000 07:48p 5.0.2195.2097 74,000 Su.exe
06/28/2000 07:48p 5.0.2195.2097 12,048 Suss.exe
Stop the super-user (SU) service before
you apply this hotfix. After you apply the hotfix, restart the SU
service.
NOTE: The hotfix installer will refuse to run on Service Pack 2 or
later. In order to use the hotfix on these systems, expand the hotfix into a
folder. You can do this by launching the package with parameter
/x.
For example, when you expand your hotfix package, you
receive a "Q265401_W2K_SP2_x86_en.EXE" on your hard disk (the name is
language-dependent, and in this example the language is English). At a command
prompt, type the following command:
Q265401_W2K_SP2_x86_en.EXE /x
You will then receive a prompt that asks you for a target folder.
Copy SU.EXE and SUSS.EXE to the resource kit program folder. Make sure the SU
Service is stopped when you do this.
