SYMPTOMS

If you try to open a Microsoft MapPoint or a Microsoft Streets and Trips file that is stored in the Briefcase, you may receive an error message that is similar to the following
#-#####-##########
where #-#####-########## represents a random string of numbers.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You transfer the file between the Microsoft Windows desktop and a laptop computer by using the Briefcase.
  • You try to open the file by double-clicking the file from inside the Briefcase.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods:
  • Copy or move the file from the Briefcase to the Windows desktop or another folder and then double-click the file to open it.
  • Start MapPoint or Streets and Trips on the desktop or laptop computer, and then click Open on the File menu in the program to open the file that is stored in the Briefcase.
