FP2000: Font Specified in FrontPage Is Displayed Incorrectly on a Different Computer (265322)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Web page with specific fonts for the text sections of the page, and you then use a different computer to view the Web page, the fonts may not be displayed correctly.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the computer that you use to view the Web page does not have the same fonts installed as the computer that you used to create the Web page.

WORKAROUND

The only way to be sure that your selected fonts are displayed correctly on another computer, if they are not among the most widely-used fonts, is to make the text part of an image (that is, a .gif, .jpg, or .bmp file).

MORE INFORMATION

A Web page can contain instructions about which fonts the Web browser should use, but it does not contain the fonts themselves. For example, if you create a Web page that uses the First Grader font on a particular segment of text, that text appears differently on a computer that does not have the First Grader font installed. This issue occurs with all Web publishing tools and browsers, not just Microsoft FrontPage 2000.
