FP2000: Head Tags Are Unexpectedly Added (265321)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q265321

SYMPTOMS

When you edit a text document such as an *.inc file with Microsoft FrontPage 2000, the Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) <HEAD> tags are unexpectedly inserted into the document.

This behavior occurs even when Preserve existing HTML has been selected under Page Options.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design of FrontPage 2000: Some tags, such as <STYLE>, require the open and close <HEAD> tag so that the browser knows precisely how to apply the tags.

MORE INFORMATION

To preserve the original HTML formatting of a document (except that which was edited by FrontPage), follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Page Options.
  2. Click the HTML Source tab.
  3. Under General, click Preserve existing HTML, and then click OK.
