  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q265315

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft FrontPage 2000, when you attempt to insert a background picture into a table, and you then attempt to click the Style button in the Table Properties dialog box, the Use background picture option and the Style button may be unavailable.

CAUSE

The Use background picture option is unavailable if the compatibility browser in FrontPage 2000 is set to either Netscape Navigator only or Both Internet Explorer and Navigator.

To determine which browser or browsers FrontPage is set to, follow these steps:
  1. Start FrontPage 2000.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Page Options.
  3. In the Page Options dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.
  4. Note the setting in the Browsers box.
The Style button is unavailable if the CSS 1.0 (formatting) check box is not selected under Technologies on the Compatibility tab.

WORKAROUND

To use the Use background picture option, place the insertion point anywhere in the table, point to Properties on the Table menu, and then click Table.

NOTE: Netscape Navigator does not support the Use background picture feature. If you want to use this feature, you need to use another browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer.

To make the Style button available, follow these steps:
  1. Start FrontPage 2000.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Page Options.
  3. In the Page Options dialog box, click the Compatibility tab.
  4. Under Technologies, click to select the CSS 1.0 (formatting) check box.
