The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q265178

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft FrontPage 2000, when you attempt to browse a Web site, you are prompted to type a user name and password before you proceed any further.

This behavior can occur regardless of the following conditions:
  • Your UserID belongs to a group where Browse access has been granted through FrontPage 2000.
  • Your UserID group has Log On Locally rights in the User Rights Policy dialog box in the Microsoft Windows NT User Manager for Domains.
  • The group Everyone has Access this computer from network rights in the User Rights Policy dialog box in the Windows NT User Manager for Domains.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because your UserID is a local account in a domain. Local accounts cannot be used to log on interactively.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, change the UserID to a global account. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. On a Windows NT computer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools (Common), and then click User Manager for Domains.
  2. Double-click the UserID that you want to modify.
  3. In the User Properties dialog box, click the Account button.
  4. In the Account Information dialog box, click Global Account under Account Type.
