This article was previously published under Q265162

SYMPTOMS

FrontPage is unable to establish a secure connection with the server because the server's Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificate is either invalid or it was issued by an untrusted certificate authority.

RESOLUTION

To use a custom certificate, be sure you meet all of the following conditions:
  • You must be using Internet Explorer 5.0.
  • You must be using FrontPage 2000 to create and publish your webs.
  • The FrontPage 2000 extensions must be installed on the server.
  • The certificate and the browser must both be set to 128-bit encryption.
  • You must assign port 443 (or other server port) to the SSL in the management console.
  • You must log on correctly and use the correct password.
