OL2000: Certificate Information from the Recipient Is Not Added to the Contact (265151)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q265151

SYMPTOMS

After you right-click a resolved recipient e-mail address, certificate information from the recipient is not added to the contact if you click Add to Contacts or Personal Address Book.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because neither Personal Address Book nor Add to Contacts adds certificates if they are not in the preferred certificate property. The certificate is not accessible from a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server in some configurations.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem. If you are not severely affected by this specific problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Microsoft Office 2000 service release that contains this fix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix.
