FP2000: Search Is Not Performed as Expected (265099)

SYMPTOMS

If you install Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions and you then attempt to search a FrontPage web, one of the following behaviors may occur:
  • The search is not performed as expected (for example, nothing happens at all).

    -or-
  • You receive an error message similar to the following:
    HTTP/1.0 501 Not supported
    -or-
  • You can search the root folder of the web but not a subfolder.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your installation of FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions is corrupted or incomplete.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, uninstall and then reinstall FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions.

To uninstall the server extensions, right-click the appropriate virtual server in Internet Services Manager, click Tasks, and then click Remove Server Extensions.

Then, reinstall the server extensions by clicking Configure Server Extensions on the Tasks menu.
