BUG: MSMQ Queue Manager on the Connector Computer Stops with an Access Violation When It Reaches the Machine Quota (264903)

SYMPTOMS

When a Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) server acts as a Connector Server, and uses a "Machine Quota" limit, the MSMQ Service produces an access violation (AV), and then exits when it reaches the quota limit.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, do not use a Machine Quota limit on a MSQM Connector Server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

The Machine Quota setting allows you to configure the MSMQ Service to stop receiving messages into queues when a predetermined volume of message storage is used.

An MSMQ Connector Server is used to route message traffic between MSMQ systems and foreign systems.
