PPT2000: Running a Presentation Turns Off Screen Saver (264882)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q264882 SYMPTOMS
When you run a slide show by double-clicking a *.pps file, or by using the /S command-line option in the Run dialog box, your Screen Saver setting becomes (None).
NOTE: If you open PowerPoint 2000, and then open your presentation, this behavior does not occur.
CAUSE
When you run a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, PowerPoint temporarily turns off your screen saver so that the screen saver does not interrupt the presentation. PowerPoint usually turns the screen saver back on after the presentation is completed. However, when you run a presentation by using either of the methods listed in the "Symptoms" section of this article, PowerPoint does not turn the screen saver back on; you must do this manually.
WORKAROUNDNOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
To restore your screen saver, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Display icon.
- Click the Screen Saver tab.
You can turn your screen saver on from this tab.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
