Deleting a User Profile Removes the My Documents Folder and Its Contents (264735)

Deleting a Windows 2000 user profile removes that user's My Documents folder and all of its contents. These items may be permanently lost if they are not recoverable from the Recycle Bin, another folder, or a backup set.
CAUSE
In Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, removing a user profile does not remove that user's My Documents folder. This is because Windows NT 4.0 does not support the My Documents folder as part of the user profile. Windows NT 4.0 does not automatically create a My Documents folder; this folder is created by other programs such as Microsoft Office.
Windows 2000 includes the My Documents folder as a part of the user profile. Therefore, deleting a user profile also deletes the My Documents folder and any items within that folder.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
