When you install a scanner or camera according to the manufacturer's instructions, the scanner is installed successfully and works properly. When you start the Scanner and Camera Wizard, the following error message may be displayed:
No scanner or camera has been detected.
If a scanner or camera is installed, please verify that the device is properly connected.
If your scanner or camera is connected but Windows did not detect it, double-click Scanners and Cameras in Control Panel, and then click Add Device.
To start the Scanner and Camera Wizard, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Scanner and Camera Wizard.
CAUSE
This issue occurs when the scanner or camera does not use a Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) device driver. Many of the current scanner and camera devices on the market today use the TWAIN standard. TWAIN devices continue to work but they cannot use the new Windows Millennium Edition WIA features such as the Scanner and Camera Wizard.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
If the device does not have a WIA driver, follow the manufacturer's instructions for installing the scanner or camera drivers. Contact the scanner or camera manufacturer for assistance with this procedure.
