Windows Services for UNIX 2.0 Does Not Support Tru64 Enhanced Security Mode (264502)

SYMPTOMS

If you are using the Single Sign On daemon (SSOD) for Compaq Tru64 UNIX, passwords are sent in clear text, even in Enhanced Security mode.

CAUSE

The SSOD for Compaq Tru64 does not support Enhanced Security mode.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Compaq Tru64 UNIX supports standard UNIX security. It also has an Enhanced Security mode that allows for the support of the following features:
  • Configurable password lengths of up to 80 characters
  • Password expiration
  • Minimum password lengths
  • Password usage history
  • Requiring a user to have a system-generated password
  • Password change history
The SSOD that is included with Windows Services for UNIX does not support any of these Enhanced Security features.
