XL: Manual Page Breaks Do Not Adjust Properly When You Insert or Delete Rows (264501)

SYMPTOMS

Manual page breaks may not adjust properly (move up or down) when you insert or delete rows above the manual page break.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when you do the following:
  1. You create the manual page break in Excel 97 or later.
  2. You save the file in the Microsoft Excel 5.0/95 Workbook format, or earlier Microsoft Excel format (4.0, 3.0, 2.1 Worksheet).
  3. You reopen and edit the file in Excel 97 or later.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove and reapply the manual page breaks, and save the file in the Microsoft Excel Workbook (*.xls) format.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
