ALT+ENTER Does Not Always Switch MS-DOS Prompt from Full Screen to a Window (264340)

SYMPTOMS

After you press ALT+ENTER to change your windowed MS-DOS prompt to full screen, and then press ALT+ENTER again to switch back, pressing ALT+ENTER a third time may not switch views. Also, when you press ALT+ENTER the third time, it may appear as if you only pressed ENTER.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you press ALT+ENTER the first 2 times by using the ALT key on the right side of your keyboard, and then use the ALT key on the left side of the keyboard the third time.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, use the ALT key on the right side of your keyboard when you press ALT+ENTER to switch views, or click Full screen on the MS-DOS Prompt window.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
