KANA Mode Status in Input Method Editor 2000 Is Inconsistent with the KANA LED on the NEC 98 Keyboard (264303)

SYMPTOMS

If you are using an NEC 98 Keyboard and Windows 2000, when your computer quits hibernation mode with KANA mode turned on, the KANA mode status in Input Method Editor (IME) 2000 may not be consistent with the KANA LED on the NEC98 keyboard.

This behavior occurs only when you use the NEC 98 keyboard with Windows 2000 Japanese version. It does not occur when you use 106- or 109-key Japanese keyboards.

RESOLUTION

A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem. This fix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Windows 2000 service pack that contains this hotfix.

When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
