INFO: Euro Symbol is not Supported in OEM Codepages (264158)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 98

This article was previously published under Q264158

SUMMARY

The CharToOem function fails when converting the euro symbol from a Microsoft Windows codepage to an OEM codepage. Most OEM codepages are filled before the emerging of the euro symbol, so they do not support the euro symbol. This is by design. Changing the OEM codepage might create a backward compatibility problem.
