XADM: Event 8027 Logged When Configuration Connection Agreement Is Running Against a Domain Controller That Is Not Configured as a Global Catalog (264145)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q264145 SYMPTOMS
When you configure a Configuration Connection Agreement to a domain without a global catalog server, the following error is logged:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSADC
Event Category: LDAP Operations
Event ID: 8027
Date: 1/26/2000
Time: 11:28:22 AM
User: N/A
Computer: SERVERDC1
Description:
The LDAP Bind to the global catalog on SERVERDC44 with credential '' was unsuccessful. The Directory returned error:[0x51] Server Down (Connection Agreement 'Config CA_Site1_SERVER2' #1628)
This error is incorrect and should state that the Active Directory Connector (ADC) will try a global catalog in a different domain.
CAUSE
The ADC is logging this error because it cannot locate a global catalog server in its own domain. The ADC tries to locate another global catalog server in another domain, so this event may give the wrong impression that the actual global catalog server is down.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
