System Reboots After Standby While Docked (264110)

SYMPTOMS

When a Hewlett-Packard (HP) OmniBook 4150 or OmniBook 4150B computer is docked in a full docking station, resuming from S2 or S3 Standby mode causes the computer to reboot. After rebooting, the 4150 computer shuts down and the 4150B computer stops responding (hangs). These computers resume from S1 Standby mode correctly; they also resume from S1, S2, and S3 Standby mode correctly after being hot undocked. This issue does not occur on either computer if the computer is docked in an enhanced port replicator.

CAUSE

The floppy disk driver that is included with Windows Millennium Edition (Me) is not properly reinitialized when the computer resumes from S2 or S3 Standby mode or Hibernate mode if the computer is docked in a full docking station.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior if you are using a full docking station, disable the power management features in Windows Me:
  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click the Power Options icon.
  3. Click Never in the Turn off monitor, Turn off hard disk, System stand by, and System hibernates boxes.
  4. Click OK.
