XADM: Option to Move Mailbox Unavailable in Active Directory Users and Computers if Exchange System Manager Is Not Installed (264109)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Move Mailbox feature by right-clicking an account in Active Directory Users and Computers, and then you click Exchange Tasks, you may find that there is no Move Mailbox option. The only options available are Create or Delete.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the Move Mailbox option is only available from servers that have Exchange System Manager installed on them. The Move Mailbox option is not available on installations that only use Active Directory Connector. You must have Exchange Administrator installed.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, run Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Setup on the server where you want to run Move Mailbox. Click only the option to install Exchange System Manager.
