An error message occurs in Visio 2000 when you edit properties in the Custom Properties Editor (264091)

SYMPTOMS

In Visio 2000 Standard Edition, when you edit properties in the Custom Properties Editor, you may receive the following run-time error:
Run-time error '-2032466638 (86db0532)': Invalid currency syntax.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.  This problem was corrected in Microsoft Visio 2000 SR-1.

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

  1. Start Visio, and on the Tools menu, point to Macros, and then click Custom Properties Editor.
  2. Accept the default Shapes in a Stencil option, and then click Next.
  3. Click Browse to browse to a stencil that has shapes that contain custom properties. Basic Flowchart Shapes is a good example.
  4. Click Open, and then click Next.
  5. Accept the default Make a Copy to Edit option, and then click Next.
  6. Choose to edit all or only some of the shapes when you are prompted to select the master shapes that you want to edit, and then click Next.
  7. In the next dialog box, click Edit Property.

    Note that you receive the following warning:
    WARNING: Changes to property definitions will be reflected in all masters in the 'Master Shapes' list which contain the selected property.
  8. Click OK.

    Note that you receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

    Click OK to close the add-on.
