SYMPTOMS

In Visio 2000 Edition, when you run Shape Explorer from a read-only network drive, you may receive the following error message:

Cannot read from read only file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Visio 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1).

Steps to Reproduce the Behavior

From a read-only network drive:

On the Tools menu, click Macros, and then click Shape Explorer. Note that you receive the error message mentioned in the "Symptoms" section of this article.
