When you attempt to assign resource permissions to a computer that runs either Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, you may receive the following error message:
Unable to look up user names for display.

This behavior can occur when you use the object picker to assign resource permissions. When you use the object picker, you cannot select users that operate either Windows 2000 Professional or Windows 2000 Server-based computers. You can only assign permissions to users from your local accounts database or from a domain. In a work group environment, you must create common accounts among all members of the work group to assign resource permissions.
