When you try to put a system in Standby mode that is using Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Power Management and that has an AHA-2940U/AHA-2940UW PCI SCSI Controller (or other SCSI device), the following message may be displayed after the initial attempt:
The driver for AHA- 2940U/AHA-2940UW PCI SCSI Controller prevents system from going into a low power state.
CAUSE
The dynamic removal of the SCSI controller (which occurs during Standby mode) does not succeed because of a check for a SCSI ROM presence. As a measure to prevent unexpected behavior, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) is designed to check for SCSI ROM presence and it can prevent the system from entering a low power state such as Standby mode. The presence of the ROM could cause problems with memory allocation and BIOS hooks if it were removed, so Standby mode is not enabled.
