OL98: You Cannot Visually Distinguish Between LDAP Servers if the Server Name Is Long (263529)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 98

This article was previously published under Q263529

SYMPTOMS

When you use Outlook in Corporate or Workgroup (CW) mode, you can query Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) servers when you use the O98ldap.exe program to install the LDAP service. There are six boxes in properties dialog box for the LDAP service, the Directory Service Account box, the Server Hostname box, the Server Port Number box, the User Name box, the Password box, and the Search Base box.

In the LDAP directory address list, each LDAP server is prefaced with "LDAP Directory on yyy" (where yyy is the server name of the LDAP server). If the server name is long and several LDAP directories with similar names are used, it is difficult to visually distinguish between the LDAP directories.
