Works 2000: Cannot Print Envelopes from Works Word Processor (263298)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to print envelopes from the Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor, the envelopes may not be printed.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if all of the following conditions are true:

  • Microsoft Works 2000 is installed on a Microsoft Windows 95-based computer.
  • You attempt to print envelopes to a Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 500 printer.
  • A Hewlett-Packard DeskJet 500 printer driver for Windows 95 is installed on the computer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, set a custom envelope size:
  1. Open a new Works 2000 Word Processer document.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Envelopes.
  3. Click Single envelope, and then click OK.
  4. Click Custom Size.
  5. In the Width box, type 9.5".
  6. Press the TAB key.
  7. In the Height box, type 4.12".
  8. Click OK, and then click New Document.
To print the envelopes:
  1. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
  2. Click the Envelope Feed tab.
  3. Click the appropriate envelope feed settings, and then click OK.
  4. Click File, and then click Print.
