This article was previously published under Q263185

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new contact in Microsoft Outlook 97 Japanese Edition, click Address, specify the ZIP or Postal code with a hyphen (-), such as "D-100" (without the quotation marks), and then click a country or region in the box, an application error occurs and you may receive the following error message:
Outlook caused an invalid page fault in Module Outllib.dll.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by a malfunction in the character count method for the ZIP code in Outlook 97 Japanese Edition. When Outlook reads the ZIP or Postal code and there is a hyphen (-) in the ZIP or Postal code, the character count is set to "0" and this causes an application error.
