FIX: Processing All Dimensions May Fail From OLAP Manager or DTS Package (263155)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services 7.0
This article was previously published under Q263155 BUG #: 9010(plato7x) SYMPTOMS Processing all shared dimensions, either from Microsoft
OLAP Manager or from a Microsoft SQL Server Data Transformation Services (DTS)
package, may fail on some databases. If each dimension is individually
processed, the process succeeds. In OLAP Manager, an error message
similar to the following might occur in the processing window:
Processing Dimension "Education Level" failed. No
changes have been made to the database. When processing from DTS,
the following error message occurs: Package Error
Error Source: DSO Description: Invalid Rectangle Cannot save object
inside a DSO transaction. WORKAROUND Process each shared dimension one by one instead of trying
to process all dimensions from OLAP Manager. When you set up a DTS package with
a task that processes all dimensions, split the task into several tasks with
each task set to process one dimension. STATUS Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft
products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was
first corrected in SQL Server OLAP Services 7.0 Service Pack 3.
