This article describes how to manually remove ActiveSync software from your computer. You may need to manually remove ActiveSync if you cannot install or remove the software using the standard procedure.

To remove ActiveSync, follow these steps:
  1. If the ActiveSync icon is displayed on the desktop, drag it to the recycle bin.
  2. Locate the Microsoft ActiveSync folder, and then rename it or remove it.
  3. Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.
  4. Locate and delete the following registry keys:
    • HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Uninstall\Windows CE Services
    • HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services
    • HKey_Users\Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services
  5. Restart the computer and reinstall ActiveSync.
After you restart the computer, if a Get connected dialog box is displayed, click Cancel, and then continue reinstalling ActiveSync.
