This article was previously published under Q263077 SYMPTOMS
When you press any of the ARROW keys while you are using HyperTerminal on your Windows 2000-based computer that is using VT100 emulation, the ARROW keys do not work if you are connected to a computer that uses the ARROW keys to move the pointer in a program.
CAUSE
This problem can occur when HyperTerminal is connected to a Telnet server by using TCP/IP (Winsock) on a Windows 2000-based computer because HyperTerminal sends the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW information to the server as 1B. Under the same settings and conditions on a Microsoft Windows 98-based computer, HyperTerminal sends the sequence 1B 5B 41 for the UP ARROW and 1B 5B 44 for the LEFT ARROW. This problem can be noted by running a Netmon trace under the preceding conditions.
