Active Desktop Is Not Installed with Internet Explorer 5, 5.01 (262980)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit 5.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer Administration Kit 5.01
This article was previously published under Q262980 SYMPTOMS
Active Desktop may not be installed with Microsoft Internet Explorer even if you select it as an installation option in Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK).
CAUSE
Active Desktop is not installed if you install Internet Explorer from an IEAK build if you use the /q Setup switch. This switch is designed to make the installation process "hands free," but it causes Active Desktop not to be installed.
RESOLUTION
Run Internet Explorer Setup without the /q switch. For a "hands free" installation, you can instead select the Hands Free installation option in the IEAK Wizard when you are creating the build. This option is one of the first available options in the IEAK Wizard.
