SYMPTOMS

If you create an Internet service provider (ISP) build of Internet Explorer with Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK) that includes a Signup.isp file with a signup connection name that is longer than 20 characters, your signup routine does not work in Microsoft Windows NT 4.0. The following error message occurs when users attempt to sign up:
Internet Connection Wizard could not establish a connection.

CAUSE

There is a 20-character limit for the signup connection name for Windows NT 4.0.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use a signup connection name of 20 characters or less.
