This procedure describes how to install a Windows 2000 hotfix by running the Qxxxxxx.exe hotfix program.

  1. Connect to the network share or computer on which you want to create the distribution folder.
  2. On the network distribution share, create a distribution folder for the hotfix files. For example, to create a distribution folder named Hotfix, type mkdir c:\hotfix.
  3. Copy the Windows 2000 hotfix program file to the distribution folder that you created in step 2. For example, to copy a Windows 2000 hotfix program file that is located on an FTP site to the distribution folder named Hotfix, type copy FTPlocation\qxxxxxx.exe c:\hotfix.
  4. To install the hotfix from the network distribution share, run the Qxxxxxx.exe program. For example, to install a hotfix from the distribution folder after you map a drive letter to the share named Hotfix (\\Servername\Hotfix), type x:\qxxxxxx.exe, where x is the locally assigned drive letter to the share.
