The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Outlook 2000
  • Microsoft Outlook 97
  • Microsoft Outlook 98

This article was previously published under Q262829

SYMPTOMS

When you remove and add a delegate at the same time in Outlook, the delegate that you add may receive the following error when they send a message:
You do not have the permission to send the message on behalf of the specified user.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because Outlook does not add the delegate to the Microsoft Exchange Server directory. Outlook does add permission and rules for the delegate.

WORKAROUND

To resolve this behavior, delete the delegate that received the error message referenced in the "Symptoms" section of this article, click OK, and then add the delegate again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
