Start Button Name May Be Changed or Garbled (262788)

The "Start" text on the Start button may be changed to another name or to unintelligible characters.
CAUSE
This issue can occur if third-party software or a virus has made changes to the Explorer.exe file.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, extract a new copy of the Explorer.exe file from the Windows CD-ROM:
- Click Start, click Run, type sfc.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
- Click Extract one file from installation disk.
- In the Specify the system file you would like to restore box, type explorer.exe, and then click Start.
- In the Restore From box, type the drive letter and path to the Windows 98 CD-ROM.
- In the Save File In box, type the full path to the Windows folder (for example, C:\Windows), and then click OK.
- When you see the "The file has been successfully extracted" message, click OK, and then click Close.
- Restart the computer.
