FIX: SQL Enterprise Manager Causes Access Violations When You Resize the Grid in the Design View (262768)

SYMPTOMS

The SQL Enterprise Manager causes access violations when you resize the grid in the Design View.

CAUSE

This is a known bug in the SQL Enterprise Manager that is included in Visual Studio.

RESOLUTION

Install the latest service pack for Visual Studio 6.0.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This bug was corrected in the next service pack for Visual Studio 6.0.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

On a computer that has Visual Studio installed but that does not have Visual Studio Service Pack 4 installed, perform this procedure:
  1. Start SQL Enterprise Manager.
  2. Drill down to a database.
  3. Right-click the database. Click New, and then click View.
  4. Click the sizer bar above the grid pane and drag it up or down to change the size. While continuing to hold down the left mouse button, click the right mouse button. Result: A Dr. Watson application error occurs in MMC.exe.
