The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

This article was previously published under Q262745

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to add a printer by using Symantec pcAnywhere version 9, 9.02, or 9.2 on a computer running Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), the pcAnywhere Printer Wizard may stop responding (hang) during file extraction location. You may not be able to select a printer from the Add Printer list, and pcAnywhere may close.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because the pcAnywhere Printer Wizard attempts to locate files for file extraction in the Driver11.cab file, instead of the Driver5.cab file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Symantec to inquire about the availability of an update.

MORE INFORMATION

The Driver11.cab file is the designated file extraction location for pcAnywhere. However, Windows Me uses the Driver5.cab file as the file extraction location. The pcAnywhere program requires that you install printers through its printer wizard even though you have previously installed printers before running pcAnywhere.
