Intellipoint 3.0 Thumb Buttons Lose Proper Functionality with USB Intellimouse Explorer (262716)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition

This article was previously published under Q262716

SYMPTOMS

With Microsoft Intellipoint 3.0 installed, the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer thumb buttons do not function normally. When you use the thumb buttons, instead of moving forward or back among previously-viewed pages, you move more than one page per click. In addition, using these buttons also changes the drop-down list of pages that you have visited.

This only happens when you use the buttons to navigate forward and back between separate Web pages. However, if you use these buttons to navigate either forward or back within the same Web site, this behavior does not occur.

CAUSE

Intellipoint 3.0 drivers were not designed to work on Windows Millennium Edition.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the most recent version of the Intellipoint drivers. To download updated drivers and software that is compatible with this version of Windows, go to the following Web site:
